Yes, we will start sharing with you all our weekend staycations and trips (in the near future). Our first-ever EATStaycation was in City Garden Grand Hotel at the heart of Makati City. For some time now, the hotel has been known for being a big business hotel right in the middle of Makati avenue corner Kalayaan. The moment we entered the hotel, we were greeted by a cheerful hotel personnel and a lobby that looks so welcoming. With its high ceiling, well-lit and spacious lobby, City Garden Grand hotel gave us a good first impression. The lobby had enough comfortable sofas that can seat guests who are waiting or guests who just wants to lounge around. It also has a small counter where guests can purchase some pastries and beverages. Upon seeing the lobby, we got even more excited to see our room for the weekend!

Welcome to our room!

We stayed at a Deluxe King room (Php 4,472 per night) that measured 32 sq m. It was well-decorated and huge enough that our baby showed enjoyment by walking and crawling around the room. The king-sized bed was definitely big enough for the three of us and having 4 pillows made us feel even more comfortable. Another thing that we loved about our room was the glass window. Our room gave us a good view of the Makati cityscape in the morning up until the evening. It also has a flat screen TV mounted on the wall in front our bed that made TV time fun as we lazily laid on the bed. The bathroom was pretty spacious and it was squeaky clean. It also had bathroom necessities and grooming kits too.

Spice Cafe is located at the 7th floor of City Garden Grand Hotel. It’s the main cafe of the hotel that serves up a wide variety of breakfast and lunch favorites. We were really surprised with the wide variety of the buffet spread. That includes breakfast usuals like bacon, cereals, pancakes, waffles, yogurt, and juices. It also includes sushi rolls, noodle bar, mains, salads, cheeses, and many more. All of it for just Php 800 nett. You will realize that it’s a bargain once you try it out.

Located at the 32nd floor of City Garden Grand Hotel, Firefly Roofdeck bar boasts of wonderful views of the city. We were astounded by the view and fresh air that welcomed us when we arrived. We were able to eat ourselves out for dinner at Firefly Roofdeck’s all-you-can-eat buffet which includes salads, soup, mains, and a Mongolian grill. They also serve a la carte bbq where you get to pick your choice of meat. The 32nd floor also houses the swimming pool of the hotel which is overlooking the city. When we saw the pool we were left wondering why we didn’t bring any swimwear with us. It was so unfortunate because our baby was so excited when she saw the lovely pool and attempted to run towards it a number of times. Don’t make the same mistake, make sure that when you stay here, you are ready to swim and relax by the pool.

A hotel like this located at the heart of Makati City is something to consider when you want to visit Manila or when you just want to have staycation. It is relatively near shopping malls, and a few steps away from restaurants and fast food chains. You can either walk or take a cab to go to your desired destination. They can also order a Grab or an Uber ride for you, if you are more comfortable with that. And if you need anything in a jiffy, there is a 7-11 across where you can buy snacks, drinks, and any other necessities.

We indeed had a relaxing weekend here at City Garden Grand Hotel. Warm hospitality from the staff, good food from their in-house restaurants, and a cozy room made our EATStaycation worthwhile. Will we go back and have another EATStaycation here? Definitely yes! And on our 2nd time we will surely bring our swimwear to enjoy their roof top pool with a view. That’s about it for our first EATStaycation! We will continue to EAT and hopefully, EXPLORE more of Manila and beyond so that we can share more worthwhile EATSperiences with you all. Till next time!
