This is probably the best news of 2020 for people who were in Taft, Manila almost 20 years ago. Merce’s Chow – Taft’s Favorite Fried Chicken is BACK! Yes, that’s right! Merce’s Chow, after being away for 12 years, is now back and yes, their signature Butter Chicken with Lemon Sauce, too! Awesome, right?! To those of you who are not familiar with them, Merce’s Chow was a small family-run eatery that operated from 2003 to 2008, located then in Leon Guinto, Taft Avenue, Manila. They were well known to serve quality Chinese food at an affordable price. Their restaurant was popular with residents nearby and students from De La Salle, St. Benilde, and St. Scholastica’s. There’s always a first time for everything and this EATSperience of ours was another first. First time to dine at Man Ho in Manila Marriott Hotel. Man Ho is the Chinese / Cantonese Restaurant of Manila Marriott Hotel. Therefore, this EATSperience is about delicious and familiar Chinese dishes that are truly close to our tummies. We were really excited about dining at Man Ho because we’ve heard a lot about how good the food is, how lovely the place is, and how awesome the service is. We’ll never know until we try, right? Pomodoro Pizza Pasta Kitchen – Kapitolyo, Pasig City

Kapitolyo! Finally, after quite some time, we went back to Kapitolyo to do some EATSploring. Kapitolyo has always been close to our tummies, thanks to its seemingly endless number of homegrown food concepts. Over the years, we’ve had our share of EATSperiences there even way before we were together. What makes Kapitolyo so special? Hmmm… Well, we believe it’s the small businesses. The dreamers who took the risk in coming up with their own eatery, food stall, or restaurant. The neighborhood that is so homey. And of course, the food. Kapitolyo won’t be the foodie destination that it is today, if not for all the wonderful food that they’ve been offering diners from all over, all these years. [Pasig EATS] Neo Japanese Cuisine at Soru Izakaya

There’s been a lot of creativity recently when it comes to new restaurant concepts in and around Metro Manila. As a diner, this is nothing but exciting for me because there’s a lot to try and to choose from. The quality of food and service has also improved because restaurants are giving their 110% every single time. In this edition of EATSplorations, I will be sharing about my latest and most recent EATSperience in Pasig City. This EATSperience of mine was in a Japanese restaurant that’s best known for their ultra-colorful plates of sushi and really creative interpretations of classic Japanese dishes.
