Since that memorable EATSperience of ours at the Spanish Food Festival at the Diamond Hotel, we have been looking around on where to try other authentic Spanish dishes. Also, we have been looking for that authentic Spanish tavern atmosphere to have a really complete EATSperience. Good for us, we didn’t have to look so far because just around Makati’s Bel-Air area there’s a Spanish restaurant that has been there for 30 years. Well, it’s safe to say that it has already been an institution for Spanish cuisine and yes, it took us a long long time to finally eat there for the first time. In this edition of EATSplorations, we will be sampling Spanish Cuisine at La Tienda. Join us as we try out their chorizo, churros, and many more!

Welcome to La Tienda!

Located just along the bustling street of Polaris in Bel-Air, Makati, La Tienda boasts of a good-sized parking area that fits around 6-8 cars. From the outside, the place really looks like a classic restaurant that’s been feeding families around the neighborhood of Bel-Air for 3 decades now.

Let’s look around!

The moment we entered La Tienda, we definitely felt that Spanish tavern feel. From the table set-up to the furniture and interior, we knew that we were in for an authentic Spanish feast. While waiting for our food, a bread basket with butter and a glass of bread sticks await us on our table. Baby Eats enjoyed the bread sticks. Good thing we were able to capture how much she enjoyed it. Let’s eat before the food gets cold!

Time to EAT!

Chorizo Frito (homenaje)
Php 275
We loved this so much! It was bold and extremely meaty with just the right amount of fat for that juicy bite. It was also good to know that La Tienda makes their chorizo in-house. They also sell it too in their small grocery corner just by the entrance of the restaurant.

Pulpo (octopus) Ceviche
Php 480
It’s our first time to ever try an octopus ceviche and it definitely won’t be our last. The octopus was super tender (probably cooked ahead of time) and it had a great balance of sweetness and acidity for that amazing starter. Well done, La Tienda!

Langostinos Roquefort
(prawns with shiitake mushrooms, blue cheese and balsamic reduction)
Php 875
This was probably the best dish of our La Tienda EATSperience. The prawns were plump, juicy, and sweet. It was complemented perfectly by the pungent yet extremely tasty Roquefort blue cheese and balsamic reduction. Make sure you order this dish when you visit La Tienda, you will definitely love it!

Spaghetti Grandinetti
(spaghetti with clams and shrimps in cream sauce)
Php 360
This pasta dish may look very simple at first but wait until you have your first bite. We were really impressed on how delicious this was. The fresh seafood provided that sweetness and bite while the rich cream sauce just sealed the deal. This was simply perfect for us, pasta-lovers. A must-try!

Escalope de Ternera
(breaded veal with butter and caper sauce)
Php 650
This veal dish was simply amazing! It looked and tasted like a schnitzel but instead of pork, La Tienda used veal. The butter and caper sauce just gave a little bit of flavor that was perfect in making it another hit in this EATSperience of ours. If you love meat and are open in trying out something new, you have to try this one!

Churros con Chocolate
(sugar sprinkled churros with rich hot chocolate)
Php 250
Of course, churros to finish things off! Well, we really love churros and so far we haven’t had churros that we didn’t enjoy. La Tienda’s Churros con Chocolate was probably more classic than the others. It was simple yet it provided us a great deal of satisfaction because of the smooth rich hot chocolate dip.
