We have been fans of Matcha ever since we’ve tried it out. A lot of restaurants and brands have their own versions of Matcha infused treats. In this edition of EATSplorations, we will share with you a brand that has built its name over 155 years. It is one of the most well-known brands from Uji, Kyoto. Due to creating the tea cabinet, allowing matcha to be transported all over Japan. It is also a pioneer in infusing matcha with western desserts. Located at the 2nd floor of S Maison in Conrad Manila, Tsujiri has opened its first branch here in Manila. Join us as we share with you our EATSperience of some awesome Match Loving at Tsujiri!

The O-Matcha is a ceremony grade Matcha. That produces finely milled green tea powder. Adding sugar to this drink is not recommended because of the high grade quality of Matcha used and so as not to compromise the taste as well.

This is their bestseller not just here in the Philippines, but all over the world. Creamy matcha with layers of different traditional Japanese sweet ingredients such as—roasted Brown rice, red bean paste, chestnut, shiratama (mochi) and Japanese traditional rice cracker (sakura monaka). It was our first time to try roasted brown rice with matcha sundae, and we loved it!

Light and airy matcha cake with luscious matcha cream, dusted with matcha bits and topped with a citrus glaze. The citrus glaze complemented the matcha really well, which we found really refreshing. Talk about having matcha in all the components, this cake can attest.

Their choux creme pastry reminded us of the time when we had one in Japan, but this had matcha softcream. We loved the crisp cookie crust as it added more texture and flavor to the already tasty pastry.

This was one of our favorites among all the treats that we have tried. Soft, moist and buttery cake with perfectly melted matcha in the middle. A serving of the vanilla soft served ice cream was a perfect pair to seal the deal. Our baby loved this cake too!
As we enjoyed our matcha treats, we also learned a lot from the owner as he explained how Tsujiri produces high-grade matcha or ceremony grade matcha. We learned that matcha should not taste bitter, but instead, it should taste less bitter, that has sweet notes and a richer, more umami flavor. If you are not that fond of matcha yet, let Tsujiri turn you into a matcha-loving individual. If you already love matcha, EATSperiencing Tsujiri’s matcha creations will surely make you love it even more!
