Chibo Okonomiyaki in Conrad, S Maison is one of the many restaurants that we have tried the past year. It is one of the few that we keep coming back to because of we really enjoy their food. Although we are near S Maison, we wishfully thought of Chibo Okonomiyaki having other branches so that people from other parts of the Metro will be able to try this Osaka-based franchise. In this edition of EATSplorations, we will be sharing about a new branch of Chibo Okonomiyaki that opened early this year. Right in the middle of the CBD in Ortigas, Chibo Okonomiyaki opened its doors in Podium. Perfect for people who are working around the area and for families, students, and friends who are frequently visiting the mall. Join us as we share the different Lunch Sets at Chibo Okonomiyaki in The Podium. Enjoy!
Chibo Okonomiyaki at The Podium!
Since Ortigas is known to be one of the busiest districts in Metro Manila, because of corporate offices, different schools and residential buildings. Therefore, The Podium is sure to be filled with lots of mall-goers. And Chibo Okonomiyaki is one of the many restaurants that can cater to the busy lunch crowd during weekdays, and most likely both lunch and dinner crowd during weekends. Located at the fifth floor of The Podium, Chibo Okonomiyaki has that Asian-inspired casual-dining interior. However, they do not have the teppan tables (that the S Maison branch has), for faster dining for diners who are just out for lunch or for dinner.
Since there are no grills on their tables here at The Podium, diners don’t get to fully EATSperience the showmanship of Chibo’s skillful cooks. However, they may still see them in action using the huge see-through panels to see the action in the kitchen.
First things first, our Chibo Favorites!
The best appetizer in Chibo! Crunchy and super tasty! We can probably finish 2-3 servings of this easily. Yes, that includes Baby Eats.
Firm noodles with lots of toppings. A great filling dish to share with your companions.
A different take on the usual yakisoba. Noodles wrapped in an omelette and topped with Japanese mayo and sauce.
If it is your first time to dine at Chibo Okonomiyaki, you must not leave without trying any of their Okonomiyaki dishes. This Butatama Okonomiyaki is for pork-lovers. Classic okonomiyaki filled with pork.
A combination of meat, vegetable, fruit and cheese okonomiyaki, topped with light and airy meringue. The most beautiful okonomiyaki and probably one of the tastiest, too!
Chibo’s Lunch Sets!
Introducing Chibo Okonomiyaki’s lunch sets. First is the Pork Ju. We liked tender and juicy pork belly slices that was cooked in Shoyu wine sauce. Together with their creamy potato salad and miso soup.
If you like beef more, then this set is for you. US prime Angus steak strips cooked in garlic-ginger wine sauce, topped with caramelized onions. This was one of our favorites. By the way, all sets include a bowl of miso soup, potato salad and a glass of iced tea.
For those without restraint in their budget and would like to have something different, the Unagi Kabayaki Ju set is an option. Japanese eel marinated in sweet sake, and dark soy sauce glaze. The juicy and silky flesh of the eel and the flavorful glaze made this set an instant favorite!
The last of the 4 sets that we have tried was the Mixed Seafood Ju. The mixed seafood includes Norwegian salmon, squid, tiger prawns and scallops. Cooked with lots of garlic and butter, this mixed seafood was made tasty by its natural flavors and heaps of garlic.
Chibo Okonomiyaki also offers Hamburger Steak meals. The one that we have tried was the Cheese hamburger steak with teriyaki sauce. (They also have Hamburger Steak with Teriyaki sauce priced at Php 488). Juicy patty with a cheese surprise in the middle topped with the sweet teriyaki sauce.
Probably the most filling set in the lineup of lunch sets here at Chibo, the Osaka Meal. Its combo of half yakisoba and half okonomiyaki will surely fill-up anyone’s hungry belly!
It’s good news that Chibo Okonomiyaki already opened 2 branches. One in the South (S Maison) and the recently opened branch in The Podium. Diners around the Metro will surely get a taste of this brand. So if you are working in Ortigas and you are in the look out for something new to try during your lunch break, get a hold of what Chibo Okonomiyaki has to offer and enjoy their lunch sets or other offerings. That’s it for this edition of EATSplorations, ’till next time!
