Southeast Asian food is derived from different cultures, many of which have its distinct flavor and characteristic. Our experience living in Singapore and in Indonesia have opened our senses, specifically our taste buds to love Southeast Asian food even more. And we do have our specific favorites that we look forward to eating again. In this edition of EATSplorations, join us as we share with you our Southeast Asian Cuisine at Red Ginger-City of Dreams Manila EATSperience.
Red Ginger at City of Dreams Manila
Located at the upper ground floor of City of Dreams, Red Ginger can be easily seen when you take the escalator, as it is on the right side when you reach the upper floor. Red Ginger gives diners a casual-dining experience with a cozy ambiance, suited for families and friends.
Ayo Makan (let’s eat)!

(Crispy Fried BBQ Duck Spring Roll with Iceberg Lettuce and Chili Garlic Dipping)
Fried well and not greasy. However, the roll really needed the chili garlic dip for that much needed flavor.

(Twice Cooked Silken Tofu with Crispy Garlic, Shallot and Crushed Native Black Pepper)
Love the texture on the tofu. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This dish needed a bit more seasoning though as it was a little too mild than expected.

(Soft Boil Egg, Mustard Green, Pickled Chili and Cherry Tomatoes)
The baby squid was really sweet and the sauce complemented it well by providing some flavor contrast.

(Honey & Tamarind Glazed Pork Belly, 5oz Angus Beef Satay
Salmon Fillet with Red Curry and Thai Basil)
This dish was all about the pork belly! Super flavorful and tender. The beef satay reminded us of satay, back when we were living in Jakarta. Salmon was cooked beautifully, too.

(Deep Fried 600 gram Whole Grouper with Garlic & Peppercorns, Singapore Chili Sauce)

(Shrimp Paste Fried Rice, Fried Egg)

Same as the satay, the nasi goreng was nostalgic. As it brought back memories in Jakarta when we would devour into a plate of flavorful nasi goreng. The Singaporean crispy grouper tasted fresh and the Asian mushrooms with beancurd skin and tofu were both tasty.

(Red Roasted Peanuts, Vanilla Ice Cream, Lime Meringue and Salted Caramel Peanut Butter)
Both desserts had a combination of sweet and fruity flavors. Our favorite was the chocolate caramel custard with jackfruit and lychee compote. Refreshing without being overly sweet, and the chocolate custard was creamy and smooth.
Having been able to try our favorite Southeast Asian dishes at Red Ginger made this EATSperience satisfying. The serving size of each dish is good for sharing which friends and families can enjoy.
