Want some Dim Sum? To those of you who are not yet familiar with what dim sum is, here’s a bit of a background information about it: “Dim sum is a popularly known authentic Cantonese dish prepared as small bite-sized portions of food served in small steamer baskets or on small plates. It is also a tradition for the elderly to gather to eat dim sum after morning exercises.” Well, as you just read, it’s a tradition to have dim sum in the morning but for us and maybe for a great number of people, dim sum is for any meal of the day, right? Dim sum has always been one of our favorite in the Chinese cuisine. Its bite-sized treats of steamed, fried, or even baked never fail to please our craving for something tasty and filling. In this edition of EATSplorations, we will be sharing with you about Dim Sum Nights at Shang Palace in Makati Shangri-La so that even at night, you can enjoy their world-class dim sum treats.
Welcome to Shang Palace!
Since Shang Palace’s inception over 20 years ago, it has catered to dim sum lovers of all ages and has been popular among many Filipino-Chinese families and friends. Its elegant oriental interior is the perfect backdrop to a wonderful Cantonese cuisine EATSperience.
Let’s EAT some Dim Sum!
Our all-time favorite, Hakaw! This is indeed one of Shang Palace’s signature dishes. Freshly steamed, extremely plump, and juicy shrimp dumplings. What more can you ask for?
Another favorite of ours, Shang Palace’s Siomai is way above any other siomai in town. Its huge chunks of tender pork topped with a wonderful piece of shrimp and fish roe is truly a delight to have for dinner.
This is like the “healthier” version of Hakaw because of the lovely minced spinach. We enjoyed the great balance of flavors and textures this vibrant dumpling had.
We have eaten Matchang several times before but this one is definitely the best. Shang Palace’s Matchang was light, perfectly seasoned, and super fragrant. Must-try!
Super juicy and meaty Beef Balls! We were really surprised on how tasty this one was. If you love beef more than pork and chicken, you gotta try this!
Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We enjoyed this dim sum even more with a little touch of hoisin sauce for that added sweet and salty taste.
The pork asado was amazing. We loved that each pastry was filled with lots of it. The baked flaky pastry was something different than the baked pork buns that we know but it was equally tasty.
These spring rolls were crispy without being greasy and super tasty because of the generous amount of seafood inside. This is definitely a must-try for spring roll and seafood lovers.
This one is definitely Mrs. Eats’ favorite! We have been looking for the perfect taro puff for a long time now and we can safely say that we found it here at Shang Palace. Creamy taro, juicy scallop and shrimp, inside a crispy pastry. Perfection.
Super silky and creamy custard and that flaky tart. We loved this one so much! Shang Palace’s egg tart is surely one of the best in town.
After all the tasty dim sum treats, we tried out the Braised E-fu Noodles with Seafood which was simply nostalgic. It was all we want in a Cantonese noodle dish and more. We also tried the Lychee Almond Soya Jelly which was extremely refreshing.
We hope you enjoyed our Dim Sum Nights EATSperience at Shang Palace. Don’t forget to check this out after work with friends and family. Dim Sum Nights is available now until the 30th of June. So, you have a little over a month to enjoy Shang Palace’s bestselling dim sum treats at night. That’s it for this edition of EATSplorations! ‘Till next time!
