Hello everyone! Before we begin, we would to announce that we finally have our own domain, eatsplorations.com. It feels really good to have it shorter than before which means it is easier to type and search, right? Anyways, we are back to share another recent EATSperience of ours. Last week, we attended our first Zomato meetup here in Manila and it was held at Siam Thai BBQ & Sports Bar in Kapitolyo. Siam Thai, as it is more popularly known, is specifically located at the parking area of Pioneer Center compound. The place prides itself of authentic Thai bbq and usual Thai cuisine favorites. Siam Thai is also a perfect place for drinking and watching your favorite sports teams with your friends. Later, you will see why. Are you ready to find out more about our Siam Thai EATSperience? Here it goes, enjoy!
Since it was an after work affair for us and Siam Thai is just in Kapitolyo, we were there early. We kind of arrived an hour before the start of the meetup. It gave us a lot of time to appreciate the ambiance of the place and we were also able to snap some shots of Siam Thai while waiting. The place is really a sports bar but with a lot of food. Drinks, flat screen TVs and music surrounded the place. As the sun set, familiar foodie faces started arriving which marked the beginning of our first ever Zomato Manila meetup EATSperience. Let’s get going because we are getting really hungry!
Let’s kick things off with four fiery Siam Thai starters!

[Mr. Eats] Number 4 would be the Papaya Salad because it was a tad too spicy for my taste. Good thing I was able to remove some of the chili and it tasted better for me. Number 3 would be the Salt and Pepper Crablets because I loved the sweet and spicy sauce. The crablets could be a little bit crispier though. The Crispy Fried Catfish with Mango Salad is at number 2 because I love anything fried and super crispy. The mango salad was superb! Coming in at number 1 is the Fresh Spring Rolls with Thai Dipping Sauce. I think I had 4 of it because it was extremely fresh. I think the dip was made from tamarind and fish sauce, and it was a great complement to the freshness of the rolls.
[Mrs. Eats] Each appetizer had its own enticing characteristic. But among the 4, my 2 favorites were the Crispy Fried Catfish with Mango salad and the Fresh Spring Rolls with Thai dipping sauce. The other 2 were good though, but were too spicy for my taste. The Crispy Fried Catfish was not oily which I really liked. And I enjoyed every crunch that I had as I ate it. As for the Fresh Spring Rolls, I enjoyed the freshness of the vegetables and the dipping sauce had a balance of sweet and sour taste.
Moving on to the next four dishes…

[Mr. Eats] These four dishes were great in their own ways and I enjoyed having all of them. However, the one that I liked the least was the Lap Tofu because its hot and spicy vinaigrette was too strong for my palette. Next is the Fresh Salmon Salad. The salmon was great, but its natural sweetness was overpowered by the vinaigrette’s bold flavors. The Pad Thai Noodles were perfect! Sweet, sour, and it had the right spice level. I had lots of it too! My hands down favorite of this set and probably of this meal was the Chicken Pandan. Super fragrant, juicy, and packed with great flavors. I would return to Siam Thai again and order one serving of this for myself. No sharing allowed.
[Mrs. Eats] Authentic Thai food will always have that fragrant smell and that spicy flavor. And these 4 dishes gave us the kick and the aroma that Thai food exemplifies. I loved the Pad Thai and the Chicken Pandan the most because again, it was not too spicy for my taste. The Pad Thai gave me the sweet flavor that I was looking for and the Chicken Pandan was juicy and tender. Their serving is good enough for 2 people to share.
The last four dishes of this EATSperience before the main event…

[Mr. Eats] 12 dishes and counting! Until now, I couldn’t believe I was able to survive this EATSperience because of the numerous dishes served by Siam Thai. Both the Tom Yam and Chicken Coconut soup were great! Both were refreshing and surprisingly not as spicy as I expected it to be. The satays were awesome too! But I enjoyed the Chicken Satay more because it was still juicy even though it took us a while taking photos.
[Mrs. Eats] I’m a soup-lover that’s why I enjoyed the spicy flavor of the Tom Yam soup and the creaminess of the Chicken Coconut soup. As for the satays, both were juicy and tender for me. And I loved the sweet and natural flavor of both.
Now, the main event of this EATSperience… The Thai BBQ!!!

[Mr. Eats] Yes, it’s time to finally share my Thai BBQ EATSperience! I loved the concept behind this EATSperience. Why? Because if you take a close look at the grill, it lets the oil and natural flavors of everything on it flow down to the soup. It gives the soup more flavor as you eat it and the meat on the grill did not taste burnt at all. The only downside of this type of grill is that there is very little space for the soup. Aside from that, everything is mighty fine! No sauces for me because every bit of meat and veggies were already tasty enough for me. Must-try!
[Mrs. Eats] Soup and grilled food? Yes please! If you love cooking on the spot, this is for you. The meat and vegetables were easily cooked and as we chowed down, we were able to cook another batch. A cup of rice with this delectable treat will seal the deal.
We had a great Siam Thai BBQ & Sports Bar EATSperience. Thanks our friends from Zomato! It was great to finally meet you guys. We also enjoyed exchanging stories with familiar faces and getting to know new ones. Will we come back on our own? Well, maybe without our baby because it is not so child-friendly. The food was just too good not to come back to. So maybe, a night out with friends or even date-night anytime soon so we can enjoy Siam Thai’s tasty dishes again. That’s it for this edition of EATSplorations! Till next time!
