Weekends always excite us but long weekends are even more exciting for us! We, as working parents, look forward to long weekends because that would mean spending more quality time as a family. And despite our busy work schedule as full-time teachers, we really make sure to always have time for our baby. Last Friday, we were lucky to experience a holiday because of Mandaluyong Day. So no school on a Friday just meant one thing—long weekend! Wanna find out how our long weekend went? Join us as we share with you our Long Weekend EATStaycation at Hotel Jen Manila! Enjoy!
Hello there, Hotel Jen Manila!
Sitting right in the middle of Roxas Boulevard, Hotel Jen Manila has the perfect view of the Manila Bay and the historical Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) complex. And if you are familiar with Traders Hotel, it is now Hotel Jen Manila.
Day 1: Check-in, Chill, and Eat!
Under the Shangri-La group, Hotel Jen Manila is surprisingly one of the most underrated hotels in the town. With its location, amenities and sincerely hospitable staff, Hotel Jen Manila surely made our stay one for the books. From checking-in at the club lounge, to staying in their executive suite, to letting the little one enjoy their pool, and EATSperiencing their in-house restaurant Latitude, snacks at Coffee.Com and a Japanese feast at, Kitsho, we will tell you why we had an amazing EATStaycation at Hotel Jen Manila.
Hotel Jen Manila’s Executive Suite
After checking-in at the Club Lounge on the 19th floor, we headed for our room. We stayed in their big and spacious Executive Suite that had an amazing panoramic view of the Manila Bay and the CCP complex. The executive suite has a separate living area from the bedroom, which gave more space for our baby to walk and run around. And the king-sized bed allowed us to sleep comfortably without worrying if one might fall off the bed. haha. There is a walk-in closet as well and the bathroom has a rain shower and a bath tub.
Chillin’ at the Club Lounge!
Staying in the executive suite gave us access to their relaxing and cozy club lounge. Having an access to their club lounge has a lot of perks that our family really enjoyed. The breathtaking view of Manila, the very friendly and accommodating staff. And of course, for a food-loving family like us, we enjoyed the option of having breakfast with a view in their lounge and their afternoon tea and cocktails as well. And to stay connected, their high-speed wifi all over the hotel was really efficient.
Dinner at Latitude
To end day 1, we had a dinner buffet at their all-day dining restaurant, Latitude. Their dinner buffet includes a cheese spread, fresh seafood that can be cooked to your own liking, numerous international dishes, a carving station with their famous Prime Rib steak, and an array of sweet treats. We ended day 1 with a happy and a full tummy.
Day 2: All About Baby Beanie!
Day 2 is all about letting Baby Beanie enjoy this EATStaycation. In-room breakfast, swimming, lunch and dinner at Latitude, snacks at Coffee.com and sightseeing of the Manila Bay sunset while having cocktails at the club lounge.
Room Service Breakfast!
We decided to have in-room breakfast because we were lazy to get out off bed early and so that we can just laze around in the room after eating. In-room dining ranges from Php 225 to Php 1,450. We ordered one American breakfast and one Filipino breakfast. Baby Eats went straight for the bacon, she also loved their longganisa with garlic rice, and her favorite fruit, watermelon. While Mr. and Mrs. Eats really loved their creamy hot chocolate. In-room breakfast is perfect for rooms that have a view of the Manila Bay. Imagine breakfast in bed with a scenic view? Perfect!
Pool Time with Baby Eats!
Ever since her first experience of swimming, she always looks forward to having a dip in the pool again. And as parents, that is one of the things that we consider when having a staycation or a vacation… for Baby Eats to have a fun time swimming! Since the weather for the past weeks have been really breezy, we just had a short time for swimming. Nevertheless, Baby Eats still enjoyed. We loved that Hotel Jen Manila has a kiddie pool, that was perfect for her height, and an adult pool for us to enjoy too.
All-day Dining at Latitude
After enjoying the pool, Baby Eats got tired and took her morning nap. And the moment she woke up, she started asking for food. Latitude has a delicious oriental fried rice which she really loved. As for us, we devoured the Prime Rib and some pasta to go with it. The selection of dishes may not be as plenty as your go-to buffet restaurants but at Latitude, they make sure that the quality of the food is always something to look forward to. Make sure to try out their carving station as the Prime Rib is always present. Also, get some shrimps and mussels from the chilled seafood station and have it grilled, steamed, or even cooked in butter and garlic. In our honest foodie opinion, Latitude is probably one of the most underrated buffets in town and that diners really need to discover its food more. Try it, and let their food do the talking.
Coffee and Pastries at Coffee.com
We didn’t stuff ourselves much during lunch to make room for some snacks and coffee at Coffee.com. Coffee.com is their in-house cafe that has a very casual ambiance. They have several cakes and pastries, savory dishes, hot and cold beverages and healthy juice drinks, diners can choose from. Since it was just snacks for us, we ordered hot chocolate. coffee and cookies and cakes to go with it. Baby Eats loves cookies, so we got her the soft and crumbly chocolate cookies.
View and Sunset at the Club Lounge
Baby Eats was very fond of the friendly staff at the Club Lounge. They really entertained her and up until this day, she still remembers them. It was fun watching the Manila Bay sunset and seeing cars pass by Roxas Boulevard. That made realize that Manila, is still one of the most beautiful cities. Despite the traffic, it still has that charm that gets us every time.
Day 3: Breakfast with a view and Japanese lunch!
On our 3rd day, we had breakfast at the Club Lounge. Their buffet spread in the lounge is good enough to start our day. The spread included a bread station, 5-6 hot dishes that were mostly breakfast staples, a fruit section and some cereals and fruit juices. Another EATSperience with a lovely view!
Our lunch on the 3rd day was at Kitsho Japanese restaurant. They have an all-you-can-eat dining every Saturday and Sunday. We really liked the idea of an ala carte buffet dining because the food is freshly prepared and the quality is never compromised. Stay tuned as we will be having a separate blog post about Kitsho Japanese restaurant very soon.
Our long weekend EATStaycation at Hotel Jen Manila was superb to say the least. This 4-star hotel in Manila still has so much more to offer and we discovered it during this restful and food-filled weekend. From the incredibly competent and hospitable staff, to the sumptuous high-quality food, down to its amazing location, everything was simply memorable and superb. And our stay here made us realize that Manila, like what we’ve mentioned, is still, one of the most beautiful cities to live in. We had a lovely family time and for us working parents, we felt relaxed and recharged. Next time you plan your own staycation or trip to Manila, try not to overlook Hotel Jen Manila and you will surely be surprised. That’s it for this edition of EATSplorations, ’till next time!
