Two weeks ago, we EATSperienced one of the most memorable EATSperiences we have had in quite a long time. It was not like any usual food trip for us. It was A Weekend in Provence at Mireio in Raffles Makati. Yes, it was our first time at Raffles Makati’s elegant French restaurant and by the looks of it, it will definitely not be our last. Why? You will find out in this edition of EATSplorations. The weekend in Provence EATSperience at Mireio features family-style sharing of the appetizers, beautiful plated dishes, a buffet of cheese, and a whole lot of dessert options. Do we need to say more? Join us as we take a trip to Provence at Raffles Makati’s Mireio, enjoy!
Welcome to Mireio!
Mireio is such a lovely place to dine at! We enjoyed the abundance of natural light because of its huge glass panels that welcomed the light from Mr. Sun in almost every corner of the place. We were really excited to try out what they have in store for us mainly because its technically our first time to try out what food in Provence is all about. Mireio’s special weekend brunch in Provence starts off with a great assortment of appetizers, followed by an egg dish of your choice, then comes a main course of your choice, and ends with an amazing cheese and dessert buffet. All of it for a reasonable price of Php 1,980++!
Assorted Appetizers…
Homemade Terrine & Mahi-Mahi GravlaxThe terrine is very similar to a pate. However, what we think made the EATSperience better was the combination of coarsely chopped ingredients which gave it more bite and flavor. The gravlax, on the other hand, was silky smooth and well-cured. The toast complemented its saltiness perfectly.
Nicoise Salad with Baby Potato, Green Beans, Boiled Egg, Black Olive, and OnionsLots of different fresh ingredients in one dish. Well, Provence prides itself of having fresh produce all year round and Mireio made sure we got a taste of it in one bowl. The light and refreshing Nicoise Salad was such a delight to have after the bold-flavored starters.
PissaladiereThese small French pizza were really tasty! Flaky crust on the outside, creamy and savory on the inside because of the cheese and caramelized onions. What a away to end the appetizer part of our weekend at Provence EATSperience!
An Egg Dish of your choice…
Egg Benedictine with Beef Tongue, Bearnaise, Iberico Ham and Herbs Scrambled Eggs, Black Truffle Juice, and ChivesThe scrambled eggs were cooked and seasoned beautifully. The egg benedictine with fried beef tongue with Iberico Ham has lovely layers of texture and a great variety of flavors from its different ingredients. Two contrasting egg dishes but both were equally delectable.
A Wonderful Surprise before moving on to the mains…
Risotto served tableside! with tomato sauce with pestoWhat a wonderful surprise indeed! Sorry for ruining the surprise but it would be really hard to keep Mireio’s perfectly cooked risotto a secret. Both the tomato sauce and the pesto were pretty tasty that’s why we won’t be picking any favorites on this one. It’s up to you guys to try it out yourselves.
Our Main Course selections…
Mackerel Filet “a la grecque” with ratatouille and potatoesBeautifully plated and well-executed dish! The fresh and flaky filet on a sweet and salty sauce was superb. A hearty yet light dish suited for seafood-lovers. This lovely dish is a perfect representation of what Provence is all about.
Slow-cooked Oxtail Parmentier with Black Truffle JuiceMouthwatering and aromatic dish! Tender oxtail cooked in flavorful black truffle juice, topped with creamy and smooth mashed potatoes. This was indeed a favorite, as every bite was a delight!
Dessert and Cheese Buffet…
Berry Crepe Cake Freshly-made Crepe with Bananas, Cream, and Chocolate Drizzle and Ice CreamOn top of the many luscious and sophisticated dishes, the cheese and dessert buffet is worth the indulgence as well. A variety of cheese to kick start the EATSperience and an array of sweet treats to cap it off. One of our favorite was a classic French dessert, crepe. The combination of bananas, cream, chocolate drizzle and chocolate ice cream made the chocolate-lover in us happy. We regret though that we were not able to try all desserts, but that gives us a good reason to come back and sample their other offerings.
Mireio’s thoughtful surprise for our baby…
Grilled Chicken and Fries Look at that happy baby! Thanks, Mireio! It wasn’t just us, Mr. and Mrs. Eats, who were happy with the EATSperience but Baby Eats as well. As it was so thoughtful of Nicolas Bracq, Mireio’s manager, to ask what can they offer our little one. Our weekend in Provence at Mireio in Raffles Makati, was made memorable because of the great food and the great service that we experienced. It was indeed a great gastronomic trip to Provence! Thanks to all the delectable dishes that truly signify how abundant and blessed Provence is. We hope you enjoyed our first-ever EATSperience at Mireio in Raffles Makati. That’s it for this edition of EATSplorations! ‘Till next time!
