Mornings during the work week are busy mornings for us. As we experience the hustle and bustle of preparing and leaving the house early to avoid the crazy Manila traffic. With that, we usually neglect to have what most people consider, the most important meal of the day—Breakfast! Good thing we had a week of no school because of the ASEAN Summit. And no school means we were able to start our day by having breakfast. Last Thursday, we rose up early to EATSperience Shangri-La at The Fort’s High Street Cafe breakfast offerings. We were so excited as it was our first time to dine there and because breakfast food always makes us look forward to starting our day right. Wanna find out if Shangri-La at The Fort’s High Street Cafe’s Signature Breakfast Dishes made our first time one for the books? Keep reading and join us as we indulge in the new breakfast dishes High Street Cafe has to offer!
Rise and Dine at High Street Cafe in Shangri-La at The Fort!
High Street Cafe is one of the in-house restaurants in Shangri-La at The Fort that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets and a la carte dining. It houses a number of different cuisines that gives their diners a wide range of enticing and sumptuous dishes. Since it was our first time, we were in awe of how huge and spacious the place was. With its ceiling to floor glass windows, the natural light during that sunny morning was seeping through which made us feel relaxed while having breakfast. And the interior and furniture were designed in such a way where diners like us, can truly feel at home.
High Street Cafe wants to highlight each live cooking station that they have by presenting at least one signature dish per station. In this EATSperience, we will be sharing what those signature dishes are and of course, what dishes we loved the most.
Guimaras Mango with Chia Seeds and Yogurt
First up, something healthy and fresh! A glass of Guimaras Mango with Chia Seeds and Yogurt. This glass of healthy goodness is the way to go when starting one’s breakfast EATSperience at High Street Cafe. We would have easily had 2 or 3 of this because it was really good. Well done, High Street Cafe!
Cream Cheese Pan de Sal with Bacon and Baked Egg
Of course, something Filipino is always good when it comes to hotel breakfasts. The humble pan de sal just got an upgrade thanks to this loaded Cream Cheese Pan de Sal with Bacon and Baked Egg. The silky smooth egg yolk, crispy bacon, and fluffy pan de sal worked together really well in creating one amazing breakfast dish. If you love egg porn food shots, this pan de sal dish is the one for you!
Pork Congee with Century Egg
A hot bowl of congee is always something to look forward to when it comes to hotel breakfasts. Good thing, High Street Cafe’s Pork Congee with Century Egg is really really tasty and it did not disappoint. Its simple yet classic taste makes it oh so comforting. Definitely a dish worth waking up early for!
Pontian Noodles
This bowl of Pontian Noodles was nostalgic! It definitely reminded us of one of our comfort food when we used to stay in Singapore. The aroma coming from the wok was so inviting that we indulged right away. We loved the great balance of flavors it had together with a little bit of a kick in the end. The crunch from the fresh bean sprouts and sesame seeds added texture to the smooth noodles. We will definitely come back for this!
High Street Cafe Pares
This bowl of Pares (Filipino-style braised beef with garlic rice) is probably the best we have ever had. No joke. The beef was extremely flavorful and MELT-IN-YOUR-MOUTH! Yes, it had to be all caps because it’s true. The sauce was superb and the garlic rice just hits the spot. We had it in seconds we’re not ashamed of it.
Banana Nutella Flatbread
Ending our breakfast on a sweet note. The Banana Nutella Flatbread made us feel like a kid enjoying bananas with chocolate and caramel sauce. The flatbread was crispy enough to hold the generous amount of nutella and caramel sauce. Kids and kids at heart will surely have fun eating this!
Thanks to Shangri-La at The Fort’s High Street Cafe for reminding us that having breakfast will surely make your day. We indeed loved every dish that we tried but there were 2 dishes that really stood out for us. The High Street Cafe Pares and the Pontian Noodles were just too good. We will never hesitate to wake up early when these two are waiting for us. Even Baby Eats loved these 2 dishes that she was able to eat loads of these. Waking up early on a school break was made worth it by High Street Cafe’s Eggciting dishes! That’s it for this edition of EATSplorations, ’till next time!
