Tagaytay being a popular destination for road trips has been a part of us since our childhood days. We have been there several times but as individuals, and it was just very recent when we visited this place together as a family. What’s more exciting this time is, we have our little one to make new memories with. We usually spend just a day whenever we go to Tagaytay, and in our recent visit, we were able to spend an overnight stay and got to enjoy the cold weather much more. In this edition of EATSplorations, we will be sharing about another EATStaycation EATSperience outside Metro Manila. Wanna find out more about? Keep reading about our EAT and EXPLORE – Taal Vista Hotel EATSperience! Enjoy!
Being an iconic hotel that has been there for decades, serving generations of families, companies, and friends, Taal Vista Hotel will probably always be a home for a lot of Tagaytay-goers.
Its classic and capturing beauty remains the same despite the changes. The renovations actually made the hotel’s look and ambiance even better.
Now, let’s start talking about our EATSperience. We arrived earlier than the usual check-in time, so we decided to have lunch first while waiting. First impression? Stunning view! The Veranda restaurant definitely boasts of the great view diners can have of the Taal. The floor-to-ceiling window panels are a big plus especially during the day where dining with a view is at its finest. Aside from the amazing view, the ambiance felt so cozy and homey too.
Now, onto the spread! Of course, the food-loving people that we are, we were ready to enjoy the buffet spread. Haha. The Veranda’s spread is a mix of local and international cuisine. They have a lot of Filipino favorites, from appetizers, to mains down to desserts. Like lechon, inasal, assorted kakanins and halo-halo, to name a few. They also have live cooking stations and a kiddie buffet station, which our little girl really enjoyed!
It was nice to see a sign like this that says ‘Take only what you can eat’. A good reminder for diners to not waste food. Great collaboration with WWF!
We loved the freshness of the dishes and the variety in flavor. Their buffet spread is quite a lot too, enough to stuff hungry bellies. But what we loved the most was the kid-friendly buffet station. Not to mention, the height of the counter is perfect for kids! It allows the kids to see and choose what food they want to eat. Baby Eats definitely enjoyed her first Veranda EATSperience.
After having a sumptuous meal at the Veranda, we thought of exploring Taal Vista Hotel more. We walked around and chanced upon the Kid’s Club! Another plus for us with our daughter in tow. A place for kids to have fun during a vacation.
If there’s a place for kids, they also have a place for fitness enthusiasts who are into working out even on a vacation. Fully equipped gym that is spacious enough for all sorts of workouts.
Taal Vista also has a game room to keep that bonding with friends and/or family going. It has a Billiard Table, Darts, and Board Games for everyone!
Finally, it was time for us to go to our room. Our room was a one bedroom deluxe suite at the newly-renovated Mountain View Wing.
We were impressed with the show of personal touch through a hand-written note and of course, a pretty, delicious and moist chocolate cake!
The one bedroom suite deluxe is a really huge room, with minimal furniture, that made the room more spacious and bright.
Baby Eats enjoyed walking around the room and jumping on the bed. Haha. She definitely loved the suite!
After resting in our room, we decided to try Taal Vista Hotel’s Family Picnic. We had it prepared at around 5:30 in the afternoon to enjoy the sunset.
They offer 3 different picnic packages and we got the family package. The family picnic package has different western and local pastries, bread and canapes. And it comes with your choice of drink. If you are a family or a group of 4-6, the Family Package is more than enough for you.
We rarely go outdoors and our stay at Taal Vista made us really enjoy nature as part of spending quality time with each other. The breeze, the view, the food, and the time with family made this EATSperience worthwhile.
After spending a breezy afternoon outdoors, we headed back to our room to rest for a while. When it was time for dinner, we went to one of the in-house restaurants of the hotel, Taza. From the name Taza Fresh Table, we learned that Taza sources fresh and natural ingredients from the best local suppliers.
It was hard to pick a favorite dish during our dinner because everything was just so so good. Each dish had its own bragging right to be loved. The steak was awesome! The mushroom pasta was superb. Can’t wait to come back for those two dishes over and over again.
Eat again?! Yup, more food! Room service for breakfast because we were too lazy to get out of bed. Thanks to the very comfortable bed and pillows of Taal Vista Hotel!
We tried a Filipino breakfast that has tapa, garlic rice and eggs, a Western breakfast that has bacon, hash brown and eggs, and a clubhouse sandwich.
We ordered according to our own preference, that’s why we have 3 dishes. But ended up sharing everything. Haha. See how happy Baby Eats was? 🙂
After breakfast, swimming time for the little one! Whenever we are on vacation/staycation, one thing that she looks forward to is if there is a swimming pool. She loves the water and enjoys it very much to the point that if she can stay in the pool for the whole day, she will. Haha.
The pool is big enough to accommodate quite a number of guests. It has 2 divisions, the kiddie area and the regular pool area for older kids and adults. TIP: Make sure to plan your swimming time especially on a weekend visit because the pool can be quite full during peak hours.
The water was ice cold, good thing it was sunny. Despite the breezy air and ice cold water, Baby Eats indeed had fun!
Tired from swimming, we took a nap and woke up just in time for lunch! Back at Taza because food is immensely good!
This time around, we ordered 2 of their recommended dishes. First, the lobster fettucine. Batangas lobster cooked in tomatoes and garden-fresh tarragon. The lobster was so sweet, plump and juicy. And the tomato-based sauce was lip smackin’ good!
Another highly recommended dish, the tomahawk pork chop. No kidding, the pork chop is intensely huge that we were really surprised how it was perfectly cooked. Amazingly tender slices of pork chop soaking in the sweet and flavorful pork jus, and underneath is a delicious bed of caramelized onions and bananas. Ahhh! We will definitely come back for this! Visit Taal Vista Hotel and dine here!
Nothing beats spending quality time with family, and we are happy with our first (definitely not our last) Taal Vista Hotel EATSperience as a family.
