The new AirAsia Santan in-flight meals were introduced to us last July 4 in Amorita Resort. Santan is AirAsia’s way of promoting the flavors of ASEAN. Since Santan or Coconut Milk is a common ingredient in the ASEAN community, AirAsia aims to make in-flight dining more enjoyable and relatable to us, Southeast Asians. Aside from the new in-flight meals, I also got a glimpse of some of the new items on their in-flight catalog. It features items that are not only useful but also, environment-friendly. Items like reusable metal straws, bamboo toothbrush, and even a Kahon Abaca Macrame Bag designed by Yuki Tansengco of the Style Cat are available starting this July.

AirAsia Philippines CEO Capt. Dexter Comendador opened the launch and he emphasized AirAsia’s commitment to giving their passengers the best in all aspects of traveling. Launching new in-flight meals and in-flight catalog are just two of the many examples of AirAsia’s commitment to addressing the needs of their passengers and also to the environment.

Garlicky and sweet tapa bits with scrambled eggs and rice! I couldn’t ask for anything more. Maybe some vinegar? Just kidding! Now, AirAsia passengers like me can enjoy some delicious all-day breakfast in the air. Well done, AirAsia!

I really didn’t think that I would be able to eat Kare-Kare as an in-flight meal. But thanks to AirAsia, Kare-Kare lovers like me can now eat their favorite Filipino dish up in the air. However, so that everyone, including passengers who prefer halal dishes, will certainly enjoy it, AirAsia’s version of the Filipino favorite is, Chicken Kare-Kare. The protein didn’t matter anymore for me because whoever created this recipe just hit it right on the spot. Now, maybe AirAsia would start selling extra rice!

Another improbable in-flight meal, at least in my opinion, but AirAsia pulled off the Bicol Express! Chicken Bicol Express to be more exact, again for passengers who eat halal dishes. This one’s another in-flight meal that would make me consider ordering an extra cup of rice. Spicy, creamy, and oh so flavorful! Definitely hits the spot. Amazing stuff, AirAsia!
