Hello everyone! I just want to share my latest EAT and EXPLORE EATSperience last weekend, in Kuala Lumpur with AirAsia and Tune Hotels. It was a short trip, mainly for the launching of the first-ever AirAsia Santan Food Fest. But during some free time, I, together with friends, ate a lot and explored a bit of Kuala Lumpur on the side. I will be sharing with you my EATSperiences from the airplane, to the hotel, to the city and back. Join me, as I share my first-ever trip to Kuala Lumpur in this edition of EATSplorations, enjoy!

Off to Kuala Lumpur with AirAsia!

Hello, BGC!

Of course, I got my pre-booked in-flight meal from AirAsia’s Santan menu!

Uncle Chin’s Chicken Rice

I was so happy that I was at the airport early because the lines at the check-in counter was still short. The immigration lines were surprisingly fast or could have even been faster if we were not often asked to switch lines. After the immigration and final security check, I had a bit of breakfast and just waited for my AirAsia flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The flight was on time! Yes, it was and I got even more excited. The in-flight food was pretty tasty, too. I didn’t expect much but AirAsia’s Chicken Rice was really really good. After eating, I just dozed off to have a little bit of rest before EATSploring Kuala Lumpur.

Tune Hotels – KLIA

I loved the fact that the hotel is just a few hundred steps away from Kuala Lumpur International Airport and the airport mall. Airport shuttles to the city and surrounding places of interest are easily accessible, too. Checking-in Tune Hotels was a breeze since our group arrived early.

The room was spacious enough for two and was very clean. Basic toiletries and towel are readily available. The bathroom is equipped with hot and cold shower and bidet for the toilet. I enjoyed the cool air-conditioning together with the ceiling fan after a long day outside.

Our booking came together with a simple yet authentic Malaysian and international breakfast buffet. I enjoyed the tasty and fragrant Nasi Lemak and spicy Chicken Curry! I definitely had a couple of rounds before heading out of the hotel.

My Kuala Lumpur EATSperience!

Petronas Twin Towers

TIP: Make sure to download your Grab app if you don’t have it because it will be easier for you to just book a ride around the city. Also, it only costs 65 Ringgit to go from the airport to the city plus toll fees.

Ice cream for only 2 Ringgit

It’s hot and humid in Kuala Lumpur so whenever you see an ice cream man in a motorcyle, just buy a cone or two to refresh yourself.

After taking photos of ourselves around KLCC and Petronas Twin Towers, we immediately made our way to Ikea Cheras to get some of their meatballs, wings, and many more. I also bought some things for my baby there. TIP: When you want to get picked up by your Grab driver at the KLCC, choose the pick up point called “Coach Suria KLCC” and your driver will surely know where to get you.

Jalan Alor Food Street

After our Ikea shopping and food adventure, it’s finally time to visit Jalan Alor in Bukit Bintang to have some Malaysian food. The street is filled with Chinese and Thai food, Seafood dishes, Street Food, Fruits, and many more. Make sure not to stuff yourself before heading to Jalan Alor because you will surely would want to eat everything there.

Look for this stall if you want to take home something good and tasty for your family and friends. I will wholeheartedly recommend their regular and spicy grilled bacon. Pork-lovers will surely love it!

If you love food on skewers, you gotta try Malaysia’s very own “Lok Lok.” Lok Lok are assorted balls, veggies, meat, and even seafood. Boiled or grilled on the spot, whichever way you want.

Chicken and Beef Satay! These grilled meat on skewers are super tasty and smokey. Don’t forget to dip it in their sambal (chili sauce) for that added spice!

Never ever miss Restoran Wong Ah Wah’s Roasted Chicken Wings! It was like an explosion of amazing flavors from a plate of Chinese cold cuts. The wings were super juicy and extremely flavorful. It’s the perfect beer-match if only I drink beer. The restaurant is located at the end of Jalan Alor. I will be writing about Wong Ah Wah in my next entry so stay tuned.

Time to fly back home!

  1. Glad that you enjoyed KL and got to try the Wong Ah Wah chicken wings; they’re my favourite too! 🙂 Although I feel that Jalan Alor has become super touristy and the prices aren’t what they used to be.
