We are back once again to share one rare EATSperience. Thanks to a school event, we were able to get off work early on a weekday. We have EATSperienced this restaurant as individuals way back and for the first time as EATSplorations tandem. We were really excited for this EATSperience as we can just simply enjoy the food and of course, each other’s company. In this edition of EATSplorations, we visited the area of Pioneer in Mandaluyong City to EATSperience the new and improved… Joey Pepperoni Pizzeria! Joey Pepperoni or Joey Pep for its long time patrons has been around for more than a decade now. The restaurant has always been known for being a traditional pizza and pasta place for the whole family. As the years of serving good food go by, Joey Pepperoni felt the need to change in order to catch up to the ever evolving Manila food scene. Find out more about the changes that had happened in the interior and in the food, as we share with you all our Joey Pepperoni Pizzeria EATSperience!
First thing we noticed was Joey Pep’s new store front! Some of you might be missing the old logo of Joey Pep, but after more than a decade, it really is indeed time to change for the better.
We also noticed the industrial-minimalist look of the interior. Its unfinished gray look was easy to look at and was so Instagenic just to say the least. Among all the changes that Joey Pep made in its interior, the industrial lights were our favorite. Just look at the photos above to find out why.
The attention to detail in putting more character to Joey Pep was such a delight to see. Finally, the looks can finally match the taste of their dishes. The new look of Joey Pep is not only refreshing to their old patrons, it’s also a sign that they are ready to cater to the “millenial” demographic.
Ready to EATSperience Joey Pep with us?
Pizza and Pasta! Yes, that’s what we really came here for. However, we got to eat a lot more than that. 8 dishes to be exact. Before the food gets cold, it’s time to try out Joey Pep’s new and improved menu, let’s EAT!
Soup, Salad and Starter…
Light and nutritious soup! Even if you are not fond of veggies, give it a try and there’s a huge chance of you loving it. Believe us! You won’t even think it’s purely made up of veggies. Great textures in making the usual tomato soup more interesting. Don’t forget to dip the garlic bread in the soup for a delicious start!
Joey Pep must have done something really really good on this one. Not big salad eaters but we loved this one! The ratio between the greens and the vinaigrette made this dish refreshingly tasty. The balsamic vinaigrette made us eat more greens. Well done, Joey Pep!
3 of our favorites in one plate! This may look simple, but it’s extremely appetizing. Who wouldn’t love a plate of fries loaded with lots of mozzarella cheese and pepperoni, right? Cheesy, meaty, and crunchy in every bite. Make sure to munch on it while it’s hot. A great starter for the young ones and the young at heart!
Pasta and Main Course…
We loved this one so much! It’s probably one of the best pasta dishes we have ever had in a long long time. Its execution was flawless. Its taste was superb. Nothing fishy about it, the sardines were truly the star of this dish, and the perfectly cooked linguine complemented it well. The linguine absorbed the flavor that the sardines and olive oil gave. This one’s definitely a must-try dish!
Not to be out done, Joey Pep’s Grilled Chicken Alfredo was also pretty tasty in its own right. It was indeed creamy, but just enough to complement the grilled chicken. The shiitake mushrooms for us was the x-factor of this dish. Its earthiness gave the dish another layer of flavor in every bite. If you are into creamy white sauce pasta dishes, you will surely love this one!
This one was another gem off Joey Pep’s menu! Who would order a pork chop dish in a restaurant known for pizza and pasta? Well, from now on we would! Simply because of this thick-cut pork chop that was super tender and flavorful. Its sweet and spicy barbecue sauce and parsley rice made us eat more and more. If you are in need of a heavy lunch or an after work treat, try this one out. For only 215 pesos and a dish as delectable as this one, you will surely get your money’s worth!
Finally, Joey Pep’s PIZZA…
With its vibrant color, Joey’s Supreme pizza is definitely enticing! Different textures and flavors from the generous amount of toppings. Every slice had everything in it, that made every bite really mouthwatering. If you like your pizza with lots of toppings, this is for you!
Another delish pizza that we really enjoyed. It was light yet packed with flavor. The anchovies gave a good balance to the sweetness coming from the different cheeses. And the arugula gave a refreshing taste to our palate. The crust was just right, not too thick nor too thin.
From a restaurant that specializes in pizza, a dessert pizza is a must. We liked how chewy the crust was topped with the famous banana-nutella pair. Best eaten when it is still hot to EATSperience a delightful dessert.
