Empingao Makati City Latin American Restaurant

Empingao! It really feels *bleep* awesome to be back writing again. To those of you who follow us on our Instagram account, you already have an idea that we were formerly known as EATS Jakarta / eatsjakarta.com. As for those who are not familiar with us, we are indeed excited to share with you our EATSperiences here in our hometown, Manila. It took us awhile to write again because of work and personal things that we needed to take care of when we came back from Jakarta. Nonetheless, we are thrilled to share with you our first-ever post as EATSplorations! Why EATSplorations? Simply because we love to EAT and EXPLORE. And no matter where we go and what we do, we can always share it with you all. Our first-ever EATSplorations post is about Empingao, a small restaurant in one of Makati’s busy streets. It serves bold flavors from Latin America. The place may be hard to find because of its size but believe us, it’s worth all your while. Ready to find out more about our Empingao EATSperience? Here it goes, enjoy!

Take a seat and enjoy the FOOD 😀

Empingao is located along the busy streets of P. Burgos in Makati City. The place is just small and can seat around 20-30 diners. They have a couple of streetside tables, air-conditioned dining area and a bar by the entrance. Empingao’s youthful interior caught our eyes right away as it was really inviting. Also, all the action in the kitchen can be seen from the dining area. We are pretty sure that you all want to see the food that we got. So, here it goes!

The FOOD!

Lamb Tostada

Mr. Eats: Packed with lots of flavor! Great mix of textures from the crispy tostada chips, juicy veggies and tender grilled lamb. Loved its acidity too. Make sure you sprinkle some chili oil love to complete the EATSperience.

Mrs. Eats: After having a bite I instantly understood why this was recommended by the chef. Tender lamb paired with refreshing flavors from the vegetables topped on crunchy tostada chips. This is worth a try!

Salmon Tacos

Mr. Eats: One of the best tacos I have ever had. That’s how good Empingao’s Salmon Tacos are. I loved the perfectly cooked salmon and the refreshing and tasty mango mayo. Every bite took me to summer and back. Two thumbs up!

Mrs. Eats: If you want something light with great flavors, try this one. I enjoyed the freshness of the Salmon drizzled with sweet and refreshing mango mayo. A perfect Salmon fix for Salmon lovers.

Camarones al Ajillo

Mr. Eats: In my opinion, this was the BEST dish of the day! Every bit of it was just SUPERB. The ciabatta and oil alone were enough to excite my taste buds. The black tiger prawns were just a cherry on top of it all. I would secretly come back to Empingao and eat this on my own. *Don’t tell my wife ;)*

Mrs. Eats: Secret no more! As I will go with Mr.Eats to have this dish again. I remember how I really enjoyed tearing my ciabatta bread in small pieces and dipping each piece in the oil. The tiger prawns were cooked perfectly and I made sure to savor every bite of both the ciabatta bread and the prawns. This dish made my EATSperience complete! Worth all the calorie-intake!

Lomo Saltado

Mr. Eats: Tenderloin, fries and a whole lot of love of Empingao’s handcrafted sauces. That’s what Lomo Saltado is all about. Lots of flavor working together to create one awesome dish. Make sure you wrap everything up in the tortilla and try out their sauces for a great EATSperience. My personal favorites were the chili oil and chimichurri.

Mrs. Eats: Isn’t it fun to make your own tortilla wrap? Well I had fun making mine with Empingao’s Lomo Saltado. The tenderloin cooked in chili oil was packed with amazing flavors. And the chimichurri added that refreshing flavor to it. Delish!

The EATSperience!

It was a great welcome EATSperience for us. After dining at Empingao, we felt like we really have to write about our EATSperience here because it’s too good not to share. We really missed writing and we promise to keep it going given that we have extra time. Thanks to Empingao for creating these tasty dishes and we will surely be back to try out other creations. That’s it for the first edition of EATSplorations! Till next time!
